Positano is Amalfi’s Coast town in Italy. It is one of the most photogenic towns with a number of houses taking you down to the sea. Featured in a number of movies, Positano is a picturesque town perched in the hills and has splendid coastal views that attract thousands of tourists every year. It is a very popular tourist destination in Italy yet it carries an untouched natural beauty. Positano can be reached by car, boat and by a bus. Traveling to Positano is an experience in itself due to the scenery that surrounds you. There are colorful houses stacked on top of one another and the gentle waves lapping at the beaches – you have to see it to believe it.
When in Positano, you can simply relax by the beach and enjoy the sun and sand. You can easily spend a day wandering through the picturesque streets. It is not a town where you go with a list of things to do. There is a beach which is the main attraction and there is plenty of food and shopping. If you are not staying in Positano overnight, you will be considered as a day visitor and will have to leave through the bus or boat. One day in Positano is never enough; the dream place requires you to stay atleast for a couple of days. It is a town which will help you understand why people return to the same destination again and again. A visit to Amalfi region is incomplete without visiting Positano which is also known as the “Jewel of the Amalfi Coast.” The quaint little town can be explored on foot and is lined with beautiful walkways.
The best way to explore the town is by walking around the streets that make your way down to the beach. There is not much to do beyond wandering at leisure and tasting the delicious cuisine. Expect plenty of stairs, narrow streets and steep inclines. You can also rent a scooter if you plan to travel elsewhere on the coast. There are number of cool little art galleries in the city center which you can check out. You may also hike the path of the Gods, which is a walking trail on the Amalfi Coast and ends in Nocelle, above Positano. It is about 5 miles and takes 3 hours. There are also a number of Grottos near Positano, which can be reached by a private boat and are said to be beautiful.
