How to apply for a UK Visa?

Planning to go on a trip with your family or friends to the United Kingdom but don’t know how to apply for the visa? Well, do not worry we got you covered!

Step 1

The very first thing you do is visit the UK Government’s site for visas and immigration which is- https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa and then apply for a visa here on the link given below – https://www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa?utm_source=visa-application-form&utm_medium=internal-link&utm_campaign=svv-apply-visa

Step 2

You will then get an appointment for your visa and make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes early on the day of your appointment at the visa application center. You need to have all the important documents in place for this so bring your appointment letter and application pack, your passport, along with a valid passport or travel document with at least 1 page or A1 sheet which is blank on both sides.

When you arrive at the visa application center you will get a token for going ahead with your appointment.

Once you are finished with the process of filing your visa you will be issued with an acknowledgment receipt. Keep this receipt very safe as this will be required later on when you will need to collect your documents.

Important note:  Once your application has been submitted at the visa application center you will not be allowed to submit any document in the future. The documents that you will submit at this hour are the only documents that are considered to make sure you have everything in place.

Step 3

A visa can be applied 3 months prior than the day you plan on visiting the UK. It is strongly recommended that you do not invest in your trip with flight bookings or hotels until you have received your visa. To find out how long it usually takes to process your type of visa, visit this link which is all about the time required to get a visa- https://www.gov.uk/visa-processing-times

Supporting documents are also immensely important for your visa application to be granted. In case you do not know which supporting documents you can provide, you can check out this page which provides a link to all the important guidance for your visa- Visa application fees and guides

Step 4

To finally complete the application process, it is mandatory that you book and attend an appointment at the visa application centers in India. All UK visa applicants are required to book an appointment without fail before you can get your application approved.

To know more about booking an appointment you can refer to the link provided below- https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/india/book_appointment.html

Step 5

You have then the option to choose whether you want to collect your visa documents in person at the visa application center or you want them delivered to you by post.

Step 6

Finally, after this, you need to enroll your fingerprints and photograph (known as the biometric information collection) at the visa application center. This will also include a digital finger scan (of all the 10 digits) and a digital photograph of you. The finger scan procedure is done by an electronic scanner. No ink, liquid or chemical. You should ensure that your fingertips are free from any forms of decoration and are fit to be scanned (for example you can’t have henna on your hands while you apply for it, cuts, abrasions or other markings as these may affect your ability to provide finger scans accepted by them). Your digital photograph is always taken with a full face and without any sunglasses or tinted spectacles, or head covering unless it is worn for religious or medical reasons. The point is that your face should be clearly visible with no hair or any obstruction to the eyes or the clarity of the face. The visa cannot be processed it the applicant does not submit his biometric information.
